Indianapolis Harpist ~ Rehearsal Dinner at the Indianapolis Central Library

The Simon Reading Room of Indianapolis' Central Library was the stunning venue for Emily & Jamey's rehearsal dinner.  With royal blue tablecloths and sunflower centerpieces, the room was bright and festive for the occasion.  As an avid (obsessive?) reader, I felt right at home!

They had an eclectic mix of music for the evening ~ everything from Debussy to Styx!  Their classical selections included:
  • Clair de Lune
  • Themes from Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky
  • Themes from The Magic Flute by Mozart

The Purdue fight song, "Hail Purdue," was a must-play!  Other popular pieces I played:
  • Disney songs (A Whole New World, Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Part of Your World)
  • Fly Me to the Moon (In Other Words)
  • Come Sail Away
  • How to Save a Life
  • Earth Angel
  • Love Me Tender
  • Throne Room from Star Wars Episode IV
  • Open Arms & Faithfully by Journey
  • When a Man Loves a Woman
  • Beatles songs (And I Love Her, She's Leaving Home, Grow Old Along With Me, Yesterday)

With a variety of ages represented at weddings, I like to make sure there is some popular music from several eras played, so everyone hears something they recognize!

From rehearsal dinners to wedding ceremonies to receptions, the harp can add class and elegance to your entire wedding weekend.  Visit my website ~ Indianapolis Wedding Harpist ~ for details on hiring a harpist for your event!

Indianapolis Harpist ~ Wedding Music at the Benton House

I've never done the whole shopping in the middle of the night thing on Black Friday ~ I'd much rather spend that time at a wedding!  Sayla and John chose the day after Thanksgiving for their intimate wedding ceremony in Indianapolis.  The historic Benton House ~ newly decorated for Christmas ~ was a lovely setting for the ceremony.  Their peacock feather theme was incorporated in their corsages, floral arrangements, ceremony readings, and guest favors.

Harp prelude greeted guests as they arrived, and when the bridal party entered, I played "Ave Maria" by Franz Schubert.  After a few words of welcome from the officiant, the bride entered to the traditional "Bridal Chorus" ~ also known as "Here Comes the Bride" ~ by Richard Wagner.  During the ceremony, they had a moment of reflection during which I played "Unchained Melody."  The recessional to conclude the ceremony was "My Heart Will Go On" from Titanic.

From small ceremonies to grand receptions, having a harpist provide the music for your event adds a special touch!  Visit my website ~ Indianapolis Harpist ~ or call 1-877-HARP-578 for more information or a quote for your event.

Harpist in Greenfield, IN ~ Wedding at the Garden Chapel

The Garden Chapel in Greenfield, Indiana is definitely a great location for a wedding ceremony.  This converted church specializes in weddings and is designed to fit perfectly for a wedding.  From acoustics, to lighting, to the amount of seating available, the ceremony was just right!

For Rana, her prelude and postlude music were more contemporary, but she was elected to stay the more traditional route for the wedding ceremony, with the exception of the recessional piece.  Before and after I included more modern hits such as From this Moment, I Swear, Thank You (by Dido), and Storybook Love from The Princess Bride.  During the processional, I went back to the traditional with Canon in D for the bridesmaids and Bridal Chorus (Here Comes the Bride) for Rana.  However, the recessional selection was definitely more modern, as I played I'm Yours by Jason Mraz.

Indiana Statehouse Wedding Ceremony

On March 13th, I had the pleasure of playing for a wedding in the Indiana Statehouse in Indianapolis.  It has amazing acoustics, and is a dramatic background for your wedding ceremony.  It gives your photographers a chance to shoot from above, giving your wedding pictures a unique perspective.

The bride opted to have her ceremony performed in the round, with guests seated in a circle, and the bride and groom in the center.  It gives more of your guests a front row seat!  She chose some non-traditional pieces for her ceremony music.  For the entrance of the wedding party, I played "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" from "The Wizard of Oz".  The bride entered to Canon in D by Pachelbel, and the recessional was "All I Ask of You" from "Phantom of the Opera".

Katz & Potash Wedding Ceremony

I knew this wedding would be beautiful when Nicole told me her plans! It was in the Conrad Hotel ballroom in downtown Indianapolis, and she had put together a stellar list of vendors to make it all come together. It was a traditional Jewish ceremony, but the music they chose had a definite modern twist:

  • Prelude concluded with Erev shel shoshanim
  • Hymne by Vangelis (entrance of families & bridal party processional)
  • Storybook Love from The Princess Bride (bride's processional)
  • Fields of Gold (recessional)

Sometimes the best place to set up the harp is behind your guests. It is also much easier and unobtrusive for me to get cues from your officiant or planner. The set-up in the Conrad ballroom works perfectly this way! It enabled me to keep a close eye on the door the bridal party was using for their entrance, and the planner could speak to me about cues and timing without the guests even noticing.
