Detroit Harpist ~ Wedding Ceremony at Greystone Golf Club, Washington

Lisa and Greg were married at the Greystone Golf Club in Washington, Michigan (north of Detroit).  After the heavy rains on Saturday, the skies cleared perfectly for their Sunday wedding.  The ceremony took place outside, with a beautiful pergola and evergreen trees framing the site.  Even better, the walkway from the clubhouse was paved with bricks, so the bride and bridesmaids didn't have to worry about their heels sinking into the wet ground!

As guests arrived, they were greeted by harp music.  The bride requested "Winter" from The Four Seasons for the seating of parents and grandparents, followed by the third movement of "Spring" ~ also from Vivaldi's The Four Seasons ~ for the bridal party entrance.  Lisa's processional music was the lovely "Canon in D" by Pachelbel.

The traditional "Wedding March" by Mendelssohn played as the newly married couple and the wedding party exited the ceremony site.  I kept playing other upbeat classical selections as the guests made their way to the reception.

Detroit Harpist ~ Music for a 90th Birthday in Farmington Hills

This was the second 90th birthday party that I've been honored to play for this year.  Although Charles wasn't actually turning 90 until Tuesday, he had a dinner party with his family the Saturday before.  He planned it a few days in advance, just in case ~ in his own words ~ he didn't make it!  He was so full of energy and excitement, that I couldn't believe he was the guest of honor.  It was an absolute delight to play for him and his family!

They reserved the banquet room at Ginopolis Restaurant in Farmington Hills for the celebration.  Four generations gathered, and they enjoyed a served meal with harp music in the background.  As they presented the birthday cake, everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to harp accompaniment.

Wedding Reception at Addison Oaks

On Sunday, September 6th, Jeff and I made the drive to Addison Oaks in Leonard, Michigan (north of Detroit). The room was decorated with hot pink flowers & napkins and black chair sashes.

I played a mix of music for Michelle & Matthew's wedding reception, including their one special request, "Collide" by Howie Day. It sounds surprisingly beautiful on the harp! If you are planning your wedding music and don't see your favorite piece on my repertoire list, never hesitate to ask. There is never a charge to learn new music for your event. As long as it is possible to play the piece on the harp, I can make it work!
